江戸中期を代表する画家・伊藤若冲。
その生涯は、禅の教えと深い関わりがあった。
若冲の両親が眠る京都の寺・宝蔵寺。
両親の冥福を祈るため、若冲が手を合わせた阿弥陀如来が今も変わらず衆生を見守っている。
そして、この寺に若冲の位牌も納められている。法名は「斗米翁若冲居士」。
その名には、絵１枚をわずか米一斗(こめいっと)という破格値で売っていた若冲晩年の生き様があらわされている。
浄土宗の檀家でありながら、若冲はやがて臨済宗に帰依。
禅の修行者となり、相国寺を拠点として数多くの絵画を描き残した。
58歳になった若冲は、萬福寺の住職で中国から来日していた高僧・伯珣照浩と出会い、禅に対する信仰心を刺激されついに出家。
そして最晩年に若冲は、石峰寺に終の棲家を得る。
若冲がこの石峰寺に残したものは絵画ではなく、一千体にも及ぶ石仏・五百羅漢像。
なぜ人生の終わりに、これほどまでの情熱で石仏を作ったのか？

Plot

Synopsis

Synopsis

Plot
